Gonzalez - Move it to the music

My review of 'Move it to the Music' by Gonzalez

The tracks intro is a solid 4/4 beat making it great for mixing and the whole tracks rhythm is very constant. This track has some really great vocals and horns and a few nice accompanying synth squelches! My only criticism is that the bass line, although not too bad, could be a little more adventurous. Definitely a disco dance track that is worthy of a re-edit with a strong such a constant beat.

It's such a great track it suprises me to find that it wasn't added to the double cd album now available, which combines their first self titled album 'Gonzalez' and 'Our only Weapon is our music'.

Biography for 'Gonzalez'

'Gonzalez' were predominantly a Jazz Funk band, based in Britain, who later rode the wave of disco in the late 70's. They were formed in 1971 by musicians from a number of different groups and released their first, self titled album 'Gonzalez' in 1974. The group's line up constantly changed as new musicians came and others left, as this was the original nature of the band. The band teamed up with the 'Queen of Northern Soul' - Gloria Jones and released the single 'Haven't stopped dancin' yet' starting their lean towards more of a Disco sound. They toured with Goria in the UK supporting Bob Marley and Osibisa, and Gloria was involved in writing and producing three of their albums, 'Shipwrecked', 'Haven't stopped dancin' (a re-edition of Shipwrecked) and 'Move it to the Music'. Their last Album 'Watch your step' was released in 1980 followed by two compilation albums in the 80's - Haven't Stopped and Our Only Weapon is Our Music... plus and a CD re-edition of their Debut Album 'Gonzalez' in 2000 on the Soul Brother label. The single 'Haven't Stopped dancing yet' reached number 26 in the US pop chart in 1978 and reached number 15 in the UK top 40 in 1979.

I remember seeing Gonzalaz in action many times and remember they also had a timbali player by the name of Roberto but he is not mentioned in the list of musicians?. He did many regular live gigs with them.
